Who can receive supervision?

Clinical supervision is provided to Licensed Associate Professional Counselors (LAPCs) and pre-licensed counselors in the state of Georgia who are working toward full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). 

Is the supervisor a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS)?

Yes. Kasey Holyfield, LPC, CPCS is a Georgia Board-approved Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) and meets all requirements to provide supervision hours that count toward LPC licensure. 

What supervision formats are offered?

 Supervision is offered in the following formats:

  • Individual supervision
  • Group supervision (when available) 

Supervision may be provided virtually or in person, depending on availability and appropriateness of fit.

How often does supervision occur?

 Supervision typically occurs weekly or biweekly, in alignment with Georgia licensure requirements. Frequency is discussed during the initial consultation and outlined in the supervision agreement. 

Do supervision hours count toward licensure?

Yes. Supervision hours earned under CPCS supervision count toward Georgia LPC licensure, provided all Board requirements are met and the supervisee is properly registered with the state. 

What is the supervision style?

The supervision style is supportive, collaborative, and developmentally focused. Supervision balances encouragement with accountability and provides space to explore clinical skills, ethical concerns, professional identity development, and the emotional impact of clinical work. 

What topics are addressed in supervision?

Supervision may include:

  • Case conceptualization and treatment planning
  • Ethical decision-making and professional boundaries
  • Documentation and clinical best practices 
  • Burnout, compassion fatigue, and self-care
  • Imposter syndrome and confidence building 
  • Professional identity development and career planning

Is supervision offered for counselors in private practice?

Yes. Supervision is available for counselors working in private practice, group practices, agencies, and community-based settings, provided the practice environment meets Georgia licensure requirements. 

What is the cost of supervision?

Supervision rates vary based on individual versus group format. Current rates are discussed during the initial consultation. Payment is due at the time of service. 

Is a supervision contract required?

Yes. All supervisees are required to sign a written supervision agreement outlining expectations, responsibilities, fees, cancellation policies, and ethical guidelines. 

How does someone get started?

To begin the supervision process, interested individuals must download, complete, and submit the CPCS Supervision Interest Form using the link provided at the bottom of this page. Submitted forms are reviewed to assess clinical fit and supervision availability. If availability aligns, applicants will be contacted to schedule a consultation to review supervision expectations and discuss licensure goals and professional development needs.
